Farm zoo with icelandic goates, sheep, horses and chicken, which were originally brought to Iceland by the first settlers. Open 10-17.

Fláajökull

A gravel road leads to Fláajökull glacier. From the parking at the glacier are numerous hiking trails. It is possible to walk from Lambhús to the roots of the glacier (10 km). On the way is a rich varity of plants and birds. It is clearly visible how the glaciers have moulded the landscape.

Stokksnes

Impressive mountains and beautiful sandy and rocky beach. Seals like to rest on the cliffs and there is a rich birdlife.

At the former farm Horn a replica of a viking village has been build as a film set.

Almannskarð

Viewpoint east of Almannaskarð tunnel, which offers a

panoramic view over Hornafjörður region and Vatnajökull glacier.

Papós

A trading village in past centuries. There are still some remains

of houses. A hiking trail goes from Papós to Horn and Stokksnes.

Hvanngil

A road east of the river Jökulsá í Lóni leads to a beautiful canyon Hvanngil

which consists of rhyolit, an extremely colourful type of rock.

Djúpivogur

Boat tours to Papey Island. A daily tour offered at 13:00 during summer.

The price includes seal- and birdwatching and two hour guided hike on Papey Island. Duration: 4 hours.
